Start your project briefYes. Authentic slaked lime is naturally alkaline and mold-resistant. For powder rooms and bathroom walls, we seal the plaster with natural beeswax or olive-oil Marseille soap. For high-splash or shower zone applications, specialized waterproofing microcement or hydrophobic topcoats are specified.
Over time, slaked lime plaster absorbs carbon dioxide from the air and undergoes carbonation, literally curing back into genuine limestone rock. While extremely durable, if impacted by heavy furniture, minor surface chips can be patched and re-burnished by our craftsmen seamlessly.
Venetian plaster is applied in paper-thin layers (less than 1mm total thickness), meaning every imperfection underneath can mirror through. We inspect substrates under raking light, skim walls to Level 5 perfection, and apply a specialized fine-grain quartz bonding primer before troweling.
Dusting with a dry microfiber cloth or wiping with a slightly damp cloth and mild neutral soap is all that is required. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach, or abrasive pads, which can etch the lime surface or strip the protective wax sheen.
Venetian plaster (Grassello) contains fine marble dust and is burnished to a high, mirror-like gloss. Marmorino uses coarser marble grains for a textured, satin stone appearance with visible pitting. Limewash is a breathable mineral paint applied with a masonry brush to create cloudy, multi-tonal movement.
